About Roger Holmen
Roger Holmen is a Norwegian photographer and digital artist based in Oslo, with a background deeply rooted in nature and visual storytelling.
Born in 1975 in Vinstra, a small town surrounded by mountains and valleys, his early years were shaped by constant exposure to the Norwegian landscape. This connection to nature continues to influence his work today.
Roger began focusing seriously on photography in 2016, but his visual craft extends far beyond the camera. For several years, he has worked as a professional retoucher, collaborating with some of Norway’s most respected photographers and artists. His expertise in preparing image files for high-end print has been a key part of delivering exhibition-quality work.
Alongside his retouching work, Roger has sold his own photographic art to both private collectors and commercial clients. His work has also been selected for interior decoration aboard two ships from Viking Cruises — a recognition he values highly.
His photographic style is particularly distinguished within architecture and nature, where he explores form, light, and atmosphere with a unique visual signature. In addition to commissioned and standalone works, he continuously develops personal fine art projects, including his latest series, Macroverse.
Beyond photography, Roger also creates digital graphic art (DGA), blending influences from pop culture, film, and visual experimentation into bold, contemporary pieces.
For Roger, an image is never finished in-camera. It is through careful post-processing and refinement that the final expression emerges — where mood, depth, and emotion come fully to life.
